Job Summary

AquaAction is increasingly engaging with governments at multiple levels on funding programs and policy development. We are seeking a Public Relations Coordinator Intern to support our efforts in tracking initiatives and contributing to meaningful engagement with government officials. This role is critical in shaping our contributions to water-related policy discussions and ensuring effective follow-up with government partners.

The intern will be responsible for:

  • Tracking government initiatives and funding programs relevant to our mission
  • Supporting the development of water-related policies in collaboration with team leaders
  • Creating and maintaining lists of key government contacts
  • Drafting and developing correspondence to government officials
  • Preparing briefing materials for policy conferences
  • Assisting with reporting requirements for government funding agreements
  • Developing scenario notes and coordinating meetings with officials

Employment Terms

Job Type Full-time, fixed-term (approx. April–September, dates TBC under CSJ)
Location Montreal, Canada – Hybrid; other Canadian locations may be considered
Travel Minimal; occasional travel within Montreal or to select events

Reporting To

  • Direct Supervisor: Vice President, Communications & Growth
  • Collaboration with: Development, Impact, and Communications/Growth teams

Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs)

Applicants must meet all Canada Summer Jobs CSJ requirements, including:

  • Being between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
  • Being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
  • Having a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Being legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Researching government policies, programs, and events through online sources
  • Drafting impactful correspondences and briefing notes for stakeholders
  • Using PowerPoint to prepare presentation materials for conferences and meetings
  • Supporting logistical arrangements for meetings with government officials
  • Assisting with documentation requirements for government-funded projects

Languages

English and French is required.

Supervision Plan

Reporting to the VP Communications and Growth, the intern will be an integral member of the government relations team, benefiting from:

  • Twice-weekly team calls and regular inter-team communication via Teams
  • Task tracking through Monday.com software
  • A thorough one-day onboarding process to familiarize with internal systems
  • A mid-point performance check-in and an end-of-term evaluation and exit interview
