COVID-19 ADVISORY – Aqua Forum is closely monitoring the situation
Aqua Forum is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation.
This year’s AquaHacking Challenges, our flagship programming, involve in-person events hosted by regional partner organizations across Canada. Our number one priority is the health and safety of all partners, AquaHacking participants and staff.
In an effort to do our part to “flatten the curve,” and as the AquaHacking Challenge is a tech-forward program, we wish to leverage our tech-agility during the difficult and quickly-evolving situation caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic by holding virtual events, rather than in-person events.
As we work to ensure the safety of our participants, we can still save our freshwater, and show the value of tech solutions and the importance of distributed innovation.
Until further notice, Aqua Forum is requiring that all AquaHacking events scheduled to take place in the next two weeks (until March 30th) be delivered 100% virtually; and if this is not possible, be postponed until further notice.
While Aqua Forum is discouraging any in-person gatherings of any size, under no circumstances should any AquaHacking events run counter to the latest federal and provincial guidelines, which discourage gatherings of 50 individuals or more.
As an organization that is built on developing innovative technological solutions to water challenges, we are confident that the AquaHacking Challenges can be delivered successfully by leveraging available virtual platforms.
We deeply appreciate all the hard work by so many individuals – regional partners, participants, judges, mentors, and staff – that has gone into preparing this year’s AquaHacking Challenges. We look forward to our continued collaboration in developing and delivering innovative approaches to hosting the program virtually when necessary.
Thank you for your consideration of the above.
